$a Monografie shrnuje výsledky projektu, jehož cílem bylo shromáždit a vyhodnotit existující domácí zdroje dat (statistiky, sčítání, dokumenty aj.) a provedené výzkumy problematiky bezdomovectví v širokém chápání tohoto společenského jevu. Tam, kde je to možné, byly zjišťovány počty osob spadajících do různých kategorií bezdomovců a lidí tímto jevem ohrožených (tzv. zjevných, skrytých a potenciálních bezdomovců) vymezených na základě Evropské typologie bezdomovectví a vyloučení z bydlení ETHOS. Zároveň byla vyhodnocena kvalita a spolehlivost dostupných zdrojů dat a hledány možnosti jejich rozšíření a zkvalitnění. 520 2-
$a The presented monograph summarizes the results of a project the aim of which was to assemble and evaluate existing domestic data sources (statistics, censuses, documents etc.) and completed research projects focusing on homelessness in the broadest sense of the word. Where possible, the numbers of people in the different categories of homeless and of people vulnerable to becoming homeless (i.e. apparent, hidden and potential homeless), defined in accordance with the European Typology of Homelessness and Housing Exclusion (ETHOS) were looked for. Simultaneously the quality and reliability of the available data sources was evaluated and possibilities of their broadening and refinement were examined. The resulting analysis shows that in order to produce a reliable image of homelessness on a particular area it is necessary to respect its different modes and manifestations. For some of them, however, relevant statistical data are not available in the desired extent and depth or are not being collected at all in the Czech Republic. Hence the monograph does not provide an estimate of the aggregate number of homeless people in the Czech Republic, but comments the currently available data and identifies sources and procedures which could lead to the refinement and broadening of the contemporary knowledge of the state of homelessness in the Czech Republic. The text is structured into chapters according to the ETHOS operational categories, and these are further subdivided according to national subcategories which have been defined for the Czech Republic. The conclusion of each chapter provides an evaluation of the data used therein and proposals of broadening or developing the data sources, or possibly a discussion regarding the need to collect a particular type of data in the form given by the structure of the Czech national ETHOS subcategories, with respect to the economic efficiency of such an undertaking and to the broader utility of the data. The need to revise and update these subcategories is apparent. 650 14
